THE BELLEAYRE RESORT PROJECT HAS BEEN APPROVED

After seven years of waiting, the Belleaye Resort project has been approved,
along with a major expansion of the State owned Belleayre Ski Center. All of
this only a mile from the Village of Fleischmanns.This development should bring
about a major economic upsurge in the area, which is already a haven for second
home owners.
According to Governor Spitzer, the resort will provide 1,800 construction jobs
over an 8 year period, 450 permanent full-time jobs, and $4 million in property
and sales taxes.
Governor Spitzer also said "This is very real economic development for a region
that has seen better times. He called the scaled-down development plan "a win for
everyone".
Under the project, the Belleayre Ski Center will build out to include the former
Highmount Ski Center and additional acreage. It is rumored that this will include
a ski slope or lift coming down to the Village of Fleischmanns.
